Tech stocks rose in premarket trading on Thursday following the Fed's decision to raise interest rates. The Nasdaq climbed 1.6%.
OpenAI (OPAI.PVT) on Wednesday revealed six new instances in which its AI models exhibited concerning behavior during training and evaluation. The disclosures include models attempting to disregard their normal constraints and conceal misaligned behavior from users.
The announcement comes after the CEOS of OpenAI, Anthropic (ANTH.PVT), and SpaceXAI (SPCX) called for a slowdown in the development of frontier AI models.
Still, Anthropic is prepping to publicly release its S-1 ahead of its expected IPO this fall. And OpenAI is reportedly planning another funding round that would value the AI startup at $1.2 trillion, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Elsewhere, SK Hynix (SKHY) released a statement on Wednesday saying that it is "exploring various options" following a Reuters report that the company is seeking to manufacture its memory chips in the US for the first time at Intel's (INTC) planned fabrication facility in Ohio.
A separate plan would see SK Hynix create a joint venture with Intel and cloud giants.
